How Tiranga Games Rummy is played

Setup

In a standard game, every player receives a set number of cards (typically 10 cards). The remaining cards are placed facedown on the table to create the draw pile, while the top card is flipped face up beside it to initiate the discard pile.

Gameplay

During their turn, players may opt to draw a card from either the draw pile or the discard pile. Subsequently, they must select a card from their hand to discard onto the discard pile. The objective is to assemble valid sets or sequences of cards held in hand.

• Sets
  A set consists of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits.
• Runs
  A run consists of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.

Melding

Once a player has established valid sets or sequences in their hand, they are permitted to place them on the table during their turn, a process known as "melding." Despite melding, players are still required to retain at least one card in their hand.

Manipulation

During their turns, players possess the ability to adjust the sets and sequences on the table. This encompasses actions such as augmenting existing melds with additional cards, reorganizing cards within melds, or acquiring cards from the discard pile to establish new melds.

Going Out

Once a player has arranged all of their cards into legitimate sets or sequences and no longer holds any cards, they can declare "Rummy" or "Going out." This signals the conclusion of the round, prompting other players to reveal their hands and compute their scores.

Scoring

In scoring, the aim is to reduce the points remaining in your hand. Face cards (J, Q, K) hold a value of 10 points each, Aces are valued at 1 point, and numbered cards retain their face value. Points are tallied from any cards remaining in a player’s hand, and victory in the round is achieved by having the lowest score.

Multiple Rounds

Rummy is commonly played across several rounds, with players accruing points throughout. The participant boasting the lowest cumulative score at the conclusion of the predetermined number of rounds is crowned the ultimate victor.
